Given the exotic locations and big scale scenes, the cost of season 1 of Marco Polo is estimated at 90 million dollars. The series was filmed in such places as Italy, Kazakhstan, and also at Pinewood Studios in Malaysia. Netflix officially announced their new series in January of 2014.
One of the stuntmen on the series was set to be Ju Kun, but unfortunately he was he was killed during a horrific crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.
Marco Polo, played by Italian actor Lorenzo Richelmy, is abandoned by his father in a foreign country where he becomes an enemy of a prince while also catching an interest of a beautiful maiden. So how does he become the target of both jealously and love? The answer is simple: be being a handsome outsider who doesn’t truly want to bother anyone. Even though Marco is not looking for conflict, trouble does find him. Some say that this particular quality of the main character makes him a rather dry and uncharismatic hero.
